Alot of people i know run windows, and they usually use either Paint Shop Pro or even Photoshop to edit their pictures, but i don't.
Infact, i'm a proud Linux user, i'm 100% windows free when it comes to my own personal digital life, my laptop runs linux, my desktop runs linux, even the server running this very site runs linux, so how do i edit my pictures?
Well, simply by using the Gimp, the Gimp is the "Photoshop of linux", it's an excellent tool for most tasks people perform, and frankly, i couldn't live without it.
I created my logo with the Gimp, granted, my logo sucks, but giving my (extremely) limited skillset when it comes to graphics, i wouldn't be able to do any better with any of the other packages out there, open source or not.
So why this post? Well, sometimes one has to preach to the deaf, and hope they hear that there are alternatives out there, and use them. So go download the Gimp, try it, you don't even need to switch to linux!
